Congratulations, Graduates! JOG Students Collect Diplomas
High school graduation is a significant milestone for any graduating senior but especially for those students who’ve worked particularly hard to overcome personal and educational barriers to claim their diplomas. At high schools in Cleveland, East Cleveland, Painesville, Maple Heights, and Euclid, Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG) students are walking the stage and moving their graduation cap tassels from right to left.
Y.O.U. Awarded Funds for Summer Youth Employment From JPMorgan Chase
Y.O.U. was one of 19 organizations from across the country that received funding from JPMorgan Chase. The award is part of the corporation's $17 million, five-year commitment to U.S. cities working to increase the number of teens with access to quality summer work experiences that put them on a path to greater self-sufficiency.
Pablo Arredondo Named 2017 E CITY Young Entrepreneur of the Year
Pablo Arredondo, CEO of Whisker Wear, was named the 2017 Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Whisker Wear is a slip-on dog or cat collar cover with a snap-on bow tie or flower accessory. Arredondo, a sophomore at Thomas W. Harvey High School, will now prepare to present his business in New York City at the NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship) National Competition.

Student Perspective: JOG at Euclid High School
As a Euclid High School sophomore, Darion Shepherd was nervous, reserved, and quiet when he first stepped into a JOG Program classroom filled with seniors. “There were a lot of seniors, and they were loud. Back then, I was quiet. I didn’t really talk a lot. Then I got comfortable and realized the program was really good, and I became more open, and I started talking more.”

The Young Entrepreneur of the Year will come from E CITY
As the academic year begins to wind down, the E CITY students are preparing their pitches for the E CITY Young Entrepreneur of the Year Competition. The preliminary round, in classrooms around Northeast Ohio begins in April, when entrepreneurs contend for their school’s top spot, and ultimately, the chance to move on to the final NEO-based round of competition.
