2017 Youth Career Olympics - Competition, Dedication, and Inspiration

Over 150 Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG) students from Cuyahoga and Lake Counties gathered at Cleveland Clinic Lyndhurst Campus to showcase a year’s worth of business knowledge at the annual Youth Career Olympics.  The 10-event competition tests participants on job readiness and employment skills in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This year, the competition was more intense than ever before as students from each school arrived on the morning of April 26th dressed to impress, prepared, and confident they have what it takes to finish among the best of the best at YCO.

Competitions included Budgeting for Life, Community Service, Corporate Team Challenge, Decision Making, Employment Application Review, Employment Interview, Employment Skills Test, Program Cover Design, Public Speaking, and Visual Display.

While students were busy focusing on their events, more than 30 sponsors, dozens of volunteers, and 35 companies were supporting the students' YCO endeavor through hours of volunteerism (mock interviews, resume building, coaching, judging, etc.), financial contributions, and donations.

In addition to the competitive events, students had the chance to meet and network with local businesses looking to fill open positions at the CVS Opportunity Fair.  In total, 35 companies were on hand to talk to students about education and employment opportunities in the region.

As is tradition, the day ended with the Victory Celebration where first, second and third place winners were announced for each of the ten categories. The winners are as follows:
