Young adults in Y.O.U. IT program continue to succeed remotely

Despite challenging times, four Y.O.U. Credential Training Program participants persevered and passed exams required to earn their IT credential. The Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification is an eight-week program that offers instruction in technology fundamentals, such as managing applications, managing files and folders, managing devices, and several other IT essential practices.

The training also includes an IC3 Digital Literacy Certification. This track covers the foundational understanding of computing skills for working in internet or networked environments, popular word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications, and common features of all applications.

Throughout the training students were able to learn remotely by completing online videos and modules through curriculum delivered by our partner, Classrooms 2 Corporations. Course instructor, Gary Minadeo, monitored and tracked their progress, and was available to answer any of the participants questions or concerns remotely.

To receive certifications, students are required to take four exams and, upon successful completion of exams, will be certified to work as Microsoft Technology Associates in the lucrative IT industry. Aquil Treece passed all his exams and earned his credential.

“This was a great program. I learned a lot. Y.O.U. provided a three-week job readiness training, which was also helpful,” said Aquil. Aquil has always been interested in the IT industry, and this program gave him the opportunity to obtain a certification before fully committing to a college or university.

“I also loved that we were able to move at our own pace. There’s so much going on right now, but that didn’t stop us because we were able to learn remotely,” added Aquil. “I am proud of myself and grateful to the Y.O.U. team.”

We are continuing to provide resources and services during the COVID-19 crisis. Interested candidates can always visit our website or call 216-776-3900 to learn more about upcoming trainings and employment opportunities.
