In Memorium of our Founder, the Honorable George V. Voinovich

Youth Opportunities Unlimited joins thousands in Cleveland, Columbus and around the world in mourning the passing of our Founder, the Honorable George V. Voinovich.  His passion for public service and belief that “together we can do it” was the foundation of many Public/Private Partnerships that helped Cleveland come back and thrive.  In 1982 he worked with leaders in the business community, the Greater Cleveland Round Table, and the Cleveland Foundation to create Youth Opportunities Unlimited, a non-profit public/private partnership to provide summer work opportunities for teens throughout Cleveland.  Throughout his long public career he continued to support and promote Y.O.U. and youth workforce development, becoming the national chairman of one of Y.O.U.’s key in-school programs, Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates,  Today, George Voinovich’s little non-profit has expanded to help thousands of teens and young adults each year with mentoring, workforce preparation, career exploration and a myriad of work experiences, that help them onto the path to economic self-sufficiency.
