JOG Expands to Three New High Schools
The 2017-18 school year is almost upon us, and Y.O.U. is excited to welcome to the JOG program students from Washington Park High School in Cleveland, and Lorain and Oberlin high schools in Lorain County.
Career Coach Susan Palmentera-Wordell will be teaching the JOG program at Oberlin High School. She says, after years of teaching JOG at Lincoln West High School, she’s excited to bring such an outstanding program to new students.
“I am thrilled to be appointed as the Y.O.U./JOG Career Coach at Oberlin High School and to be part of the Oberlin, Ohio community. Oberlin is an amazing city with rich social, academic, and artistic history," Palmentera-Wordell says. "I expect to not only teach the Oberlin High School students about how to be better prepared for their academic and employment futures but to be enriched myself by them as well. Oberlin High School is an exciting addition to Y.O.U.”
The JOG Program is an in-school, classroom-based program with a focus on career development, employability, life and leadership skills. JOG is part of Jobs for America’s Graduates, offering drop-out prevention programs in 32 states. Follow-up services are provided to participants for a full year after graduation. The JOG Program is at high schools in Cleveland, East Cleveland, Painesville, Maple Heights, Lorain, and Euclid.
