Recap from the 13th Annual Austin Carr Golf Outing
Friday, July 28, 2023Celebrities, professionals, and Y.O.U. participants came together on Monday, August 17 for an exciting day of fun and fundraising at the Quail Hollow Golf Country Club. This year marked our largest golf outing yet, with approximately 200 golfers enjoying two courses.
The event was made even more special with the presence of 30 celebrities representing Cleveland sports teams and news/media outlets. Many Y.O.U. teens were thrilled to team up with our foursomes, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and inspiration.
Throughout the day, golfers and community members had the chance to participate in a raffle and auction for enticing prizes. The highlights included a sailboat tour on Lake Erie, a one-week stay at a luxurious PGA resort and spa, exclusive private golf lessons with Austin Carr's esteemed golf coach, a Matco toolbox, and tickets to local sports games and theatrical performances.
This year a summer jobs alumni, Nezerae Hunt, co-hosted the golf outing with Austin Carr. Nezerae is currently a summer jobs supervisor at the Cleveland Freedom Project. Nezerae shares, “what my mentor did to me, I reciprocate that energy. I know there's so much more potential in my participants that they don't know about themselves.” Nezerae aspires to be a sports broadcaster so she appreciated getting to work with one of the local figures she looks up to. The funds raised during this event will be directly channeled into Y.O.U. programming, allowing us to continue making a positive impact on the lives of countless young individuals.
