JOG Kicks off at Lincoln West High School!
Students of Cleveland’s Lincoln West High School recently waited anxiously to recite the commitment pledge for our Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG) Program. The initiation ceremony commenced with a speaker from Esperanza, Elizabeth Magana. The first generation college graduate addressed the diverse group of students stating that she could relate to the students and coveted their opportunity to practice for interviews and learn about resume writing while in high school. “I am proud of you for taking on this challenge and starting this in high school,” she said. “I didn’t have this opportunity,” she added.
JOG provides this experience and more for several of Cleveland’s students. The program operates in 9 schools and seeks to provide economic self-sufficiency to our inner-city youth. The for-credit daily program focuses on career-development, high school graduation, post-high school success and employability and leadership skills.
We’ll continue to profile participating schools, highlighting the experiences of our students, career coaches, school staff and caretakers. Stay tuned!
