National Volunteer Week

In honor of national volunteer week, we want to acknowledge the determined work of our volunteers. Throughout the pandemic that have continued to show up for our participants on zoom. Thank you for sharing your time, professionalism, and skills with our youth.

Learn what it's like to volunteer with us! Special thanks to Bethany Germano, VP of Charitable Giving & Corporate Events at First Federal Lakewood, and Bryan Rybak, Manager of International Services at Hyland Software.

It makes us so happy to take this moment to acknowledge the efforts of our volunteers but the work isn’t over yet. We are seeking guest speakers to talk to our Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates students as their school year comes to an end. We also need volunteers to conduct mock interviews for our credential training program.

We also also excited to announce our new 7-week mentorship program that will equip students with the resources necessary to build and maintain mentor relationships to help with their career planning and advancement. Mentors are experts in their field and will serve as valuable sources of knowledge and guidance for the students. This experience will consist of health professional panels, skill building workshops, a mentor speed dating event, a mentor pairing event, and a field experience (if possible).

If you or someone you know is interested, email our volunteer coordinator Stephanie at spalmer@youthopportunities.org.

Bethany and Bryan share their advice for a young person looking for a job.
