Former Participant shares her experience at Y.O.U.!

 Flowers arrived to our office this week as a pleasant surprise from Shyann, one of our former participant’s and the face of our current billboard. The attached card read “Y.O.U. thank you for such an amazing opportunity, seeing myself on that billboard makes me remember I accomplished a lot.”

The delightful flowers prompted us to follow-up with Shyann. She took some time to fill us in and we learned that she is currently pursuing a business degree at Cuyahoga Community College. Shyann talked about how our staff equipped her with the skills needed to be successful in the workplace. “You all prepared me for what to expect in the real workforce world” she said. “The team at Y.O.U were really caring genuine people in my opinion and did as much as they could to make sure we had everything we needed until we started our jobs,” she added. Before connecting with Y.O.U Shyann was actively deciding if she wanted to go to college or not. She was also unemployed and as she described it “kind of stuck.”

After starting our Young Adult Opportunity Program (YAOP) she landed an opportunity with Cardinal Health in the customer service industry. Overall her experience at Y.O.U. was worthwhile and her time with us led her to discover what she wanted to do professionally. “This is one of the best programs I know of, you all are so caring and considerate, a goal of mine is to work for you guys one day!” Shyann’s success makes the work we do more meaningful. We are excited about her future and the possibility of her joining our team excites us.
