Coordinated Intake Shelters
Coordinated Intake guarantees access to shelter. To request public shelter assistance, please call Coordinated Intake at the number below between 8am-8pm Monday through Friday to complete an assessment.

You do not need to go to Coordinated Intake for the following private shelters, but there is not guaranteed access*** If you are requesting shelter after hours or on a weekend: Men go to 2100 Lakeside; Women go to 2227 Payne Ave (Norma Herr) Families call 2-1-1 or use the callbox at the Coordinated Intake site to get a shelter bed. To access every publicly funded shelter in the community, you must complete a Coordinated Intake application. Referrals are made to places such as 2100 Lakeside, Norma Herr Women’s Shelter, Y-Haven, Harbor Light, PASS, City Mission, Family Promise, and West Side Catholic Center’s Moriah House from Coordinated Intake.

Aging out of Foster Care
In Ohio, youth who age out foster care are eligible for Medicaid until they turn 26. This can make it much easier to pay for doctor visits, preventative care, emergency care, hospitalization if you need it, prescriptions and more. For more information, visit benefits.ohio.gov/.
Bridges
A voluntary program available to young adults who left foster care in Ohio at ages 18, 19 or 20 and who are in school, working, participating in an employment program, or have a medical condition that prevents them from going to school or working.

Chair-ity
Chair-ity is a nonprofit providing and delivering furniture and household goods at no cost to youth who graduate from foster care and begin independent living.

The Ohio Education Training Voucher (ETV) program
provides up to $5,000 a year in federal funding for qualified school-related expenses for young people who aged out of foster care or who were adopted after age 16. To qualify, you must enroll in a full-time post-secondary education or training program by age 21, continue to be enrolled, and make satisfactory progress. Funding may be used for tuition, room and board, student loan repayment, books and supplies, transportation, and/or other related expenses. To learn more, visit www.fc2sprograms.org.
